The Finch Hattons Camp is a luxurious accommodation facility that is seated on a 35-acre piece of land located in a private concession in Tsavo West National Park. The Finch Hattons camp is a luxurious accommodation facility that was named after one of the earliest explorers and safari pioneers, Denys Finch Hatton. The camp overlooks some of the most scenic views in the National Park like the three water pools that are spring fed attracting herds of different animals like buffalos, elephants, lions and leopards among others. The highlights about staying at the Finch camp include excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, recently renovated safari tents, views of the water pools, over 500 recorded bird species view, luxurious and comfortable accommodations, great views of the Chyulu hills and the ecosystem around the lodge.

Facilities and services at Finch Hattons Luxury Camp                     

The camp offers several facilities and services and these include a 24-hour security detail, gym, WIFI for easy communication, mosquito nets, writing desk, conference Centre, complimentary laundry services, Business centre, battery charging facilities, free parking, a restaurant where all meals are served, a children’s club, mobile connectivity, tea and coffee making facilities, balcony/deck, fridge, hair dryers, mini-bar, cotton linen and safe among others.

Terms and conditions at the Finch Hattons camp

Just like any other accommodation facility in Kenya, the Finch Hattons camp has terms and conditions that all guests need to know and these include:

Insurance: guests at the camp have both medical and travel insurance for the duration of their stay to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

The bookings and cancellations: All bookings at the lodge are possible with the availability of the rooms including check-in and check-outs. The check-in time is 1200hrs and checkout is 1000hrs with couples on their honeymoon given a late check-out time as long communication has been made. Cancellations are possible with a few conditions in place and they can be made between 60 to 120 days and not forgetting provisional bookings that are available for only 14 days. 100% of the rate will not be refunded if there is no show, 20% of the rate will not be refunded between 60 to 120 days, 50% will be forfeited between 31 to 59 days and 30% will not be refunded if cancellation is done less than 30 days. Note that bookings will only be confirmed after payment of at least 30% of the total amount.

Children’s policy: The minimum age for payment at the lodge is 6 years and different rates apply to children sharing with other children and children sharing with adults. A child sharing with an adult pays 50% of the adult rate per person sharing per night, two children sharing with two adults are charged 50% of the adult rate per child and children who are above 12 years pay the adult rate and are accommodated in their separate tent.

The park rates: The park fees are usually added to the rate and are valid for only 24 hours. In any case of extra days spent in the National Park, you will have to pay the park entry fees for each day. Note that the park fees are liable to change depending on the relevant authorities and this will be communicated on our website.

Activities offered at Finch Hattons

Game drives: Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya and with few lodges. Using 4×4 open-sided safari vehicles, you get to experience the authentic wildlife side of Kenya as you get to see the different birds and animals that are found in the area. Two game drives are offered per day to all guests at the lodge that is both in the morning and afternoon. Night game drives are offered at an extra cost and usually start after sunset. A spotlight is provided to enable you to see the several nocturnal animals in the National park.

Guided bush walks: these help you to get close to nature around the camp and the national park. Accompanied by an experienced guide and armed ranger, you will be pointed to the best hiking spots in the Chyulu hills forest where guides can easily track the animals.

Cultural visits: The nearest Masai village is the Iltilal where you will be welcomed by the locals. The cultural trips help give an insight into the way of life of the locals as they welcome you into their homes.

Birding at Tsavo: A home to over 500 bird species, Tsavo West is a birding paradise and some of these can easily be seen around the camp from the comfort of the viewing decks and taking bush walks with experienced tour guides.

Little explorers club: this is best for families traveling with children. The club was set up to make sure that parents enjoy their safari and at the same time are not worried about their children. The lodge has staff that is ready to care for the children, cook, and teach them survival skills and track animals among others. Children are most welcome in Finch hattons to enjoy Wildlife safari in Kenya.

How to get to Finch Hattons Camp, Tsavo West

The flight time from the Wilson Airport to the Finch Hattons Airstrip is 50 minutes. Scheduled charter flights using SafariLink are daily and note that the number of passengers and the scheduled time entirely depends on the flight operator and not us. Flying to the lodge is the fastest and most d expensive way of getting to the Finch Hattons camp.

Driving to the camp might take a long that is 4 to 5 hours from Nairobi but it is still the most scenic way of getting to the camp. A 4×4 safari vehicle and driver guides are provided to all guests booked into the Finch Hattons Luxury Camp.

Accommodation at Finch Hattons Camp

The Finch Hattons Luxury Camp has a total of 17 tented suites surrounded by a hippo pool that is filled with fresh water from the springs making it an ideal place for both intimacy and adventure.

The Finch Hattons Suite: this also known as the presidential suite is about 200m squared and offers great views of the surrounding areas and the hippo pool. facilities that are found in the suite include a spacious single bedroom with a king-sized bed, copper bathtub and two outdoor showers, toiletries, natural body products, a kitchen, private plunge pool, well-stocked mini bar, a spare bedroom, lounge and dining area and a private viewing deck. Additional services offered to guests staying at the Hatton suite include exclusive use of a 4×4 safari vehicle, a private chef, and butler services.

Luxury Tented Suites: Finch Hattons luxury camp has 14 spacious en-suite furnished tented suites that have clear views of the hippo pool that can be seen from the sitting deck. Each of the tented suites includes a maxi minibar, WIFI, ceiling fan, 2 outdoor showers, a free-standing copper bathtub, a pillow menu, complimentary homemade snacks and an indoor shower.

Luxury 2-bedroom Tented Suites: The two-bedroom suites are spacious covering 205m squared and are furnished as the standard suites. They are elevated rooms with facilities like 2 outdoor showers, a maxi bar, a ceiling fan, WIFI, natural body products, a copper tub, a pillow menu, an extended viewing deck and a common lounge.

The rates at the Finch Hattons camp vary depending on the season and from year to year. Most of our rates include both residential and international rates and are quoted in dollars. Below is an estimate of the rates depending on the type of room booked and season although note that these can change at any time and in case of any changes, we will update our website with the new rates.

The Finch Hatton Suite accommodates a maximum of two people, the luxury tented suite sleeps two people and the family suite has a maximum occupancy of 4 people. The peak/high season runs between June to October and then December and the low season runs from January to June and the rates are per person per night.

The rates include laundry services excluding dry cleaning, accommodation, all meals throughout your stay and drinks excluding the premium drinks, WIFI which is available in all rooms, Game drives in a 4×4 safari vehicle with experienced guides, the Tsavo West National Park, activities like bush breakfasts, yoga classes, sundowners, use of the spa facilities, all the taxes and invoices and all the children’s activities. The rates however do not include other safari activities like flights, spa treatments, guided walks, international flights to and from Kenya, travel and medical insurance, entry visas, personal expenses like shopping and personal phone calls.
