Birding: Lake Nakuru National Park has over 450 recorded bird species including lesser and greater flamingos, long-crested eagles, Verreaux’s eagles, cormorants, and a variety of other raptors. The best time to go birding at the lodge is from November to April when the migratory birds fly into the country since this is also known as the breeding season.

Horse riding: The horse rides at the lodge take place at the flamingo stables that we have partnered with. The Flamingo stables are located along the perimeter of Lake Nakuru National Park and have been in existence for over 35 years. Get to experience the wildlife around the National Park as you ride along with professionals offering the best horse riding services in the National Park.

Other midrange accommodations in Nakuru include the Flamingo Hill Tented Camp, if you would like try the Out of Africa safari style, sleeping in the tented rooms. 

Game drives: there is no way you can say you enjoyed a safari in Kenya without a game drive and the Lake Nakuru lodge offers two sessions per day. While on the game drives, expect to see wildlife like buffalos, zebras, waterbucks, giraffes, and rhinos among others. Tree planting: tree planting at the lodge was started so that guests can leave a little bit of themselves after their safari to Lake Nakuru National Park. The lodge usually lets the guests choose the type of tree that they want to plant and after you leave, we make sure that we take care of that tree to protect the environment and ecosystem around the lodge and National Park at large.

Swimming: The lodge has a swimming pool where guests get to relax and enjoy the cool waters after a long day of driving around the Park. The swimming pool also allows guests to be part of the wildlife action because of the clear view of the waterhole where animals converge for water and cooling off during the dry season.

Bush meals and sundowners: All bush meals including breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are provided to all guests upon request. These services offer guests the real feel of African nature and unforgettable memories.

Accommodation at Lake Nakuru Lodge

Lake Nakuru Lodge offers 95 spacious deluxe rooms to guests and can accommodate a maximum of 200 people. The accommodation facilities are furnished with a television set, seating area, full length windows, en-suite bathrooms with permanent showers, comfortable beddings, mosquito nets, a hair dryer, sliding doors, free toiletries, and a wash basin. It also has 4 handicapped rooms to help guests that have special needs. The lodge also has 2 suites with a large seating room and a private veranda.

The deluxe rooms: these accommodate 2 people and the facilities within the lodges include flushing toilets, toilet paper, a private patio, clean linen, a balcony, garden furniture, wheelchair accessibility in four rooms, a writing desk, wardrobe, children’s cribs and beds, soundproof rooms, cleaning products, dining area, mosquito nets, dry rack clothing, sitting area, can hold two single beds and are located at the ground floor. The zebra room: this is the oldest room at the lodge at 100 years and was the first building at the lodge. The zebra room is well-furnished and guests get to explore the oldest room during their stay at the lodge.

The twin room: The twin rooms at the lodge are about 2m squared and have facilities like a flat screen TV, shower and bath with cold and warm water, dressing room, mosquito nets, wheel accessible, seating area, hair dryer, safety deposit box, free toiletries, wake-up service, wardrobe/closet, air conditioning, electric kettle, private bathroom, clean linen,  and soundproof. The rooms also have great views of the surrounding areas.

The triple rooms: These are the same size as the twin rooms and have facilities including a private bathroom with a bath/shower, additional toilet, flat screen TV, mosquito net, cleaning products, safety deposit box, hot tub, interconnecting rooms, tumble dryer, desk, balcony, wardrobe, child socket covers, cloth rack, toiletries, they are found on the ground floor and have clear views of the Garden and the Lake.

Family room: The family room at the lodge has a private balcony, air conditioning, dressing room, wake-up service, city view, cleaning products, additional toilet, patio, hair dryer, towels, and sheets are provided at an extra cost, flushing toilet, interconnecting rooms, soundproofing, seating area, free toiletries, tumble dryer, mosquito nets, clothes rack, has a view of the garden, lake view, it is located on the ground floor, wheelchair accessible and has a hot tub.

Facilities at Lake Nakuru Lodge

Restaurant: the restaurant at the lodge is known as the Mutarakwa and it has been open since the official opening of the lodge. It is divided into two parts that is the indoor and outdoor areas of which meals can be served from either part of the restaurant. The inside part of the restaurant is bigger than the outside holding a maximum of about 180 guests while the outside can accommodate about 42 guests. The restaurant serves a variety of meals including international and African-themed cuisines with consideration to guests with dietary needs as long as there is advance communication with the chefs. You can never go wrong with the delicious meals that are served at the lodge restaurant.
