The Sarova Mara Game Camp is strategically located in the heart of the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve found in Kenya. Masai Mara is best known for the annual wildebeest migration that takes place every year from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya and then back to Serengeti before the cycle starts all over again.  Masai Mara is a top tourist attraction in Kenya offering some of the best wildlife views in the country with millions of wildebeests, 300, 000 zebras, and thousands of gazelles and big cats including lions, leopards and others including hippos, elephants, and giraffes and over 400 registered bird species.

Staying at the Sarova Mara Game Lodge comes with full board packages that is breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. You can still however spice up your stay at the lodge by having alternative meals at the camp and the alternative options include the following:

The bar: you can choose to spend your evenings around the Ewaso pool bar or the Oloip bar where a cozy fire is always lit, share stories or decide to spend a quiet evening listening to guitar music as you enjoy your drinks.

Boma dining: This is one other way of enjoying your meals at the lodge with bush breakfasts, lunch or dinner can easily be arranged with prior information to the chefs. The meals can also be served at the IMCV, poolside, or on the deck that has great views of the plains but with prior communication from the guests.

Sundowners: sundowners can be set up at one’s preferred site and what better way to enjoy a few drinks with guests and friends under the African star-lit sky around a bonfire.

There are several safari activities that tourists can engage in while on a safari to Masai Mara at the Sarova Mara including:

Hot air balloon rides: balloon rides are mostly carried out in the morning hours before sunrise and they come at an extra cost. The hot air basket carries a maximum of 8 people and it usually rounds off with a bush breakfast.

Masai Mara is home to numerous wildlife including bird species, the big five, and other animals and these are best seen during the two game drives that are offered per day at the lodge with an experienced tour guide throughout your stay at the lodge.

The Sarova Masai Mara Game Lodge is well-suited for different meetings and conferences with its quiet environment and well-furnished conference rooms that have facilities that are fit for meetings. The conference room at the lodge accommodates a maximum of 80 people and if you are looking for an intimate small wedding, this is the right accommodation for you. Equipment that is provided at the conference room include projectors, a flip chart, a TV and video, screen, a writing pad, and pens.

Getting to Sarova Mara Game Lodge

There are two ways that you can use to get to Sarova and that is by air and road.  Driving to the camp is more scenic and it will take you about 5 hours to get to the lodge from Nairobi and by air, it is about two hours and a half from Mombasa.

The rooms at the Sarova Mara Game lodge are available all year round although we advise that you book in advance during the wildebeest migration months (June to October) due to the large crowds during this period.

Accommodation at Sarova Masai Mara Game Lodge

Sarova Mara Game camp comprises of 3 family tents, 20 club tents, 19 standard tents, and 30 deluxe tents. The lodge is one of the largest accommodation facilities in Masai Mara and was basically constructed with families in mind.

Sarova family tents: There are two family tents at the Sarova Game lodge and these were set up in a way that they are two in one sharing a spacious lounge. The family tents are always in high demand and need to be booked in advance if you are to get any.

Club tents: The Sarova Mara Game lodge club room tents are spacious rooms that are decorated in white, soothing colors, have a great view of the Mara plains, and are ideal for couples especially those on their honeymoon. The club rooms have facilities like a fully stocked mini-bar, hair dryer, tea, and coffee-making facilities, charging equipment, chairs and writing tables, and en-suite bathrooms with both hot and cold running water among others.

Standard tents: The standard tents are extremely comfortable and are fitted with either double or twin beds. These are the perfect rooms for seasonal guests planning on spending some time exploring the National Reserve through game drives and enjoying other safari activities. The standard rooms have facilities that include a permanent roof, shower, zip at the front, writing desk, safari chairs, and many more. These same facilities can be found in the family rooms.

Check-in is at noon and the check-out time is 11:00 am. The lodge offers storage for the luggage of the guests before they check in and check out and if you check in or out before your designated time, you will be charged an extra fee for it.

The camp is located in an elevated area surrounded by a 24-hour electric fence. There is a total of 73 tented rooms at the lodge surrounded by shrubs, and exotic trees, a mini bird sanctuary, and the Masai village which is adjacent to the lodge. The rooms have air conditioning, a salon, free WIFI, a kid’s club for the children, a game room, a lobby with 24-7 reception, and a lounge that is well-designed with good furniture and a satellite Television set. The lodge also has free parking spaces for guests who arrive while driving their cars. Parents traveling with children who are under the age of five should make sure that the children are under close supervision.
