Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge

Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is a 5-star luxury accommodation facility in Lake Nakuru National Park, that is owned and operated by the Sarova group of Hotels that offers unique and luxurious properties across Kenya. The lodge is surrounded by breathtaking views of the hills and gardens. It is approximately 174 kilometers from the Jomo Kenyatta International airport and can either be reached by road or air. The lodge is a 30 minutes’ flight from Nairobi where a safari vehicle will be waiting to drive you to the lodge and it is about a 2 to 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi.

The hospitality that you get once you are at the lodge the moment that you arrive plus the breathtaking scenery is first seen with the African-themed chalets that have been set up to match the tranquillity of nature around the National park. And this has made it easy to spot the wonderful views around the lodge. Below are the rooms that are found at the Sarova Lion’s Hill lodge. The camp has 67 luxury chalets that are divided into two that is 3 spacious suites and 64 standard luxury rooms.

Chui and Faru meaning lake and Faru suites:

The two-bedroom suites are adjacent to each other and were named after two wild animals that is the Chui and Faru English names leopard and rhino respectively. They are characteristically decorated as the two endangered species and have a private terrace, furnished with a fireplace and warm and clean beddings.

Standard rooms:

The standard chalets at the lodge consist of single, double, twin, and triple rooms that have a clear view the Lake Nakuru and the wildlife around it.

Ziwa suite:

Ziwa is a Swahili word meaning Lake and this is the presidential suite at the lodge. The suite has a private terrace, dining area, and beautiful views of the surrounding areas and a bonfire is always available at night for the guests.

All the rooms at the lodge have amenities like tea/coffee making facilities, private patios, en-suite bathrooms with showers and WC, razor outlets, comfortable beds fitted with mosquito nets, hair dryers and charging outlets, free toiletries, air cooler, reading tables, white pillows and duvets, and chairs. The rooms come in different sizes and designs and can cost about $400 per person per night and this can change depending on the season of travel. The peak/dry season usually has high rates because of the many tourists visiting the National park during this season and the rates are reduced in the wet/low season.

Activities at the Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge

Game drives: The lodge offers two game drives through the national park one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This is considered to be one of the best ways in which you can explore the park and get to see various wildlife like rhinos, buffalos, lions, crocodiles, leopards, and over 450 recorded bird species. A 4×4 safari vehicle plus an experienced tour guide is provided to take you around.

Bird watching: Lake Nakuru National park has over 450 recorded bird species that can be seen during nature walks and game drives.

Guided nature walks: These are carried out in the presence of an experienced tour guide and they are done in gazetted safe areas around the camp and the National Park. The best time to go for nature walks is during the dry season.

The lodge is strategically located a few minutes away from the best wildlife viewing spots like the fig tree where most of the lions spend their mornings and afternoons, it is also a good spot for the tourists traveling from Nairobi, the tasty food that is served at the lodge and its authentic offer of the true African wilderness to their guests.
